Well thought-out, right
down to the smallest detail
Our locking units and locking cartridges are more than just integrable, powerful, durable and reliable; they also prove their excellent efficiency and cost-effectiveness on a daily basis.
Robust locking cartridges
Our tried-and-tested locking cartridges are independent components that reliably hold round material in any position using spring force.
Function
Holding is guaranteed over an extended period of time – even in the event of alternating loads, fluctuations in operating pressure and leakage. The clamping force is negated by applying pressure to the locking cartridge. Our locking cartridges can be installed in any position. Holding in a static condition only.
Characteristics
LD series (release under pressure)
HD series (hold under pressure)
Description
Materials
Body: anodised aluminium
Clamping jaws: brass
Piston: POM/Delrin
Spring: Oteva, stainless steel (SA design)
Seals: NBR
Temperature range
-20°C to +80°C
Operating pressure
4 to 7 bar
Advantages
- Short response time and high switching frequency possible
- Long service life
- Great holding force
- Quick and easy installation
- Low air consumption
- High clock frequency achievable
Safety information
- Locking cartridges are not suitable for positioning.
- Not certified for use in safety-related controllers.
- The piston rod must not be twisted or subjected to external shocks during clamping either. This may result in loss of the clamping effect!

Position-precise locking units
Our locking units are mainly used as functional clamps for position-precise locking of machine and plant parts, as well as for securing against unintentional movement. They are mechanical and maintenance-free.
Function
The locking unit is used to hold round material, like piston rods (chrome-plated steel, stainless steel), guides, etc., in any position. Special adapters are available for cylinders. The clamping unit automatically clamps the round material during venting (power failure) and releases it again during pressurisation (powerless break).
Description
Scope of delivery
The locking unit consists of a locking cartridge including cylinder holder with four fixing screws

Spring: Oteva, stainless steel (SA design)
Seals: NBR
Temperature range
-20°C to +80°C
Operating pressure
4 to 7 bar
Advantages
- Short response time and high switching frequency possible
- Long service life
- Reproducible positioning thanks to precise guidance of the jaws in the housing
Particularly low wear on the jaws and the shaft thanks to the use of special brass
- Automatic, safe holding, even in the event of a power failure (powerless break)
Safety information
- The locking unit must not be used as a safety device. It is not approved as a safety element and is not to be used as a dynamic brake either.
- When used on pneumatic cylinders, the locking unit must only be loosened when the forces on the piston are balanced. Jerky piston rod movement may cause wear on the cartridge and risk of accidents.
- Shutting off the compressed air supply on both sides (e.g. using a 5/3-way valve, middle position blocked) does not provide any safety! A 5/3-way valve, middle position vented, can be used in many cases. Contact us to discuss your particular case.
