We’re passionately continuing his life’s work and manufacturing top-quality locking cartridges and locking units for pneumatic cylinders for our customers. From mechanic to
inventor and pioneer

1958

Immigration

When Gianfranco Mainardi emigrated from Italy to Switzerland in 1958, there was no predicting the success story he would write. In Switzerland, he spent many years gaining valuable experience as a mechanic at various companies and acquiring extensive technical expertise.

1990

Bracket design request

A request for a bracket design for a round piston rod changed everything. He constantly chipped away at this challenge. Gianfranco Mainardi tinkered, pondered and planned until he found the perfect solution. He stuck to his idea undeterred, despite considerable difficulties.

1996

Breakthrough

His perseverance paid off, and in 1996, he received the funding he needed to get started. His idea finally took off with the strong support of his family.

Patents

The patents for the locking units were applied for in 1997.

Establishment

The company Doma-Tech AG was established in Au (St. Gallen) in 1998. The business began to grow rapidly. Additional family members and employees were hired to meet the high demand.

2000

Move to Diepoldsau

In 2000, the company moved to larger premises on Schmitterstrasse in Diepoldsau, where Doma-Tech Mainardi AG still has its head office to this day. Thanks to CEO Gianfranco Mainardi’s determination and pioneering spirit, the company is still helping to ensure perfect process cycles in automation even today.

Takeover by the second generation

The siblings Bianca, Lucia and Gianfranco took over management of the company from their father in 2021.

Having our dad by our side even at retirement age is a gift,’ declares Lucia Mainardi happily.
